Harry Styles Now Calls Miley Cyrus’ VMA Twerk Performance “Inappropriate”
No matter how much we try to block it from our minds, people still keep talking about Miley Cyrus' now-infamous performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs. (Even Miley's breaking her silence on her routine!) And that includes the lads of One Direction…
While promoting One Direction: This Is Us, the fivesome caught up with Moviefone to not only chat about the film, but also about the latest rendition of "We Can't Stop"/Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." Niall Horan says of the performance, "I don't get why everyone is sulking about [Miley]." Louis Tomlinson adds, "I was shocked at how much coverage it got and I think she was shocked. I don't think she even knew she'd get that much attention from it."
But the most surprising 1D comment comes from Harry Styles: "I think it's quite inappropriate. Especially for the age group that it's aimed at. I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity."
Recently, we caught up with the curly-haired cutie, and he was whistling a different tune about the same subject: "I thought it was very reserved. I thought she was very timid. She's quite shy, I think she needs to come out of her shell." (Though, to be fair, he was clearly being sarcastic.)
What makes this a super-odd statement is that Harry Styles publicly got his twerk on at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards (for approximately two seconds, but still). So… was it not inappropriate then? Weigh in on the twerking debate in the comments!
