J.K. Rowling to Produce Harry Potter Prequel Story
Well doesn't this sound all sorts of incredible? While we've given up on Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint making their return to the Harry Potter franchise — mainly because DanRad said it wouldn't happen — author J.K. Rowling doesn't seem to be cutting ties with the beloved world anytime soon.
In addition to penning the script for HP spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, she will also produce a prequel to the original Harry Potter, which will "explore the previously untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and outcast." BUT, before you go getting all excited, there is one
small rather huge catch…
The story will only be available in stage-form. According to The Daily Mail, the vision for the production, put together by London and New York producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, has "the sensitivity, intensity and intimacy [J.K. Rowling] thought appropriate for bringing Harry's story to the stage. After a year in gestation, it is very exciting to see this project moving onto the next phase."
The yet-to-be-titled work is tapped to open in the West End within the next two years. What do you think of the idea? Are you bummed that we won't be able to see it come to life on the big screen? Spill all your Harry Potter-related thoughts in the comments below!
