All the Pairs of Harry Potter Co-Stars That Gave Love a Try in Real Life
In case you haven’t heard the news, there’s a new Harry Potter book on the way! On July 31, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be released, leading into a whole new way of viewing the Wizarding World. Sure, it’s the script of the West End stage play and it’s set 19 years late, but it’s still pretty effing exciting, you know? Plus we’ve got Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hitting theaters on November 18, so 2016 is shaping up to be filled with lots of HP goodness.
So, to get into the spirit, we’re looking into the personal lives of some of the movie series’ cast members. We did it for the casts of Game of Thrones and Glee and such, so it’s only fair. Here are all the pairs of Harry Potter co-stars that gave love a try in real life:
1. Bonnie Wright & Jamie Campbell Bower — Before JCB ever hooked up with Lily Collins, he was actually an engaged man. Starting in 2009, the blond actor, who played Young Gellert Grindelwald for .2 seconds in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, was in a relationship with the redhead who brought Ginny Weasley to life in all eight films.
In April 2011, the two announced their engagement. All seemed well until he began filming The Mortal Instruments, where he met his future love, Lily. Bonnie & Jamie called it quits in June 2012., citing “things had not been good with them for a really long time.”
2. Tom Felton & Jade Olivia — At the end of Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Draco Malfoy can be seen with his wife, Astoria Greengrass. You already know that Tom portrayed Draco throughout the duration of the franchise, but did you know that his real-life girlfriend played his wife??
“The producers actually came to me about six months ago and asked me,” Tom told MTV News about Jade joining him in HP. “I was like, ‘OK, I’ll ask her.’ She was slightly reluctant, but I pulled her arm and twisted it and then she was filming with me for three days at King’s Cross.”
Tom & Jade have been going strong since April 2008.
3. Evanna Lynch & Robbie Jarvis — Never would we ever have thought that Luna Lovegood would find love with Young James Potter, but that’s exactly what happened… at least, in real life.
2 years after the final film hit theaters, the pair began posting pictures of and with each other on Instagram — like, romantic pictures — and continued to do so up until ~4 months ago. Hmm…
4. Matt Lewis & Emma Watson — Emma’s been completely open about her longtime crush on Tom Felton back when the series kicked off. But, while Emma was crushing hard on Tom, Matt was crushing hard on Emma! He’s been honest about it on more than one occasion, but later moved on to say how she’s like a sister to all of them.
Neither Emma nor Matt admitted to anything more between ’em… but Rupert Grint did. “Overnight he became a sex symbol and it was nice for Matt to have his moment,” RG told The Independent. “He gave me a bit of stick with the kissing scenes with Emma, though, as back in the day he had a little thing with her.” ~Little thing~ — DETAILS!
More than a few celebrities admitted to crushin’ on Emma Watson. Here are 10 of ’em:
Harry Potter’s leading man has previously admitted to thinking his co-star was a cutie. “On the first film, I said I had a crush on Emma, on the first film, but not anymore. Emma’s beautiful, ya,” he told reporters in the past.
At the New York premiere for Deathly Hallows Daniel again spoke about his former crush, identifying how old he was when he liked her. “Probably, I think when was 11,” he told HollywoodLife.
