18 Half-Up Hairstyles for Short & Medium Length Hair to Try Now
Anyone with short or medium length hair knows that updos can be a big struggle, if not totally impossible. But leaving your hair down all the time? That gets boring fast. I recently chopped a few inches off of my longish hair for a lob with choppy ends. I love the new style so much, and am actually considering going a little bit shorter, but at the same time, I miss some aspects of my old cut. Long hair comes with so many options: you can do braids, big buns, long ponytails, and cool updos. But shorter hair? You’re lucky if you can get it into a stubby ponytail using less than three bobby pins. That’s why, if you’re looking for variety, your best bet is trying a half-up hairstyle.
In case you haven’t noticed, half-up hairstyles are huge right now. Whether it’s a half-up bun, a half-up ponytail, half-up space buns, or something more simple, the partly pulled back look is all over the place and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. After years of the same trendy long beach waves or super straight locks, I’m beyond into the half-up styles. Unfortunately, although I used to be able to do the half bun with no problem, it’s not as easy with shorter hair. Everything falls! I don’t want to be left out of the loop, so I looked up some cool ways to do half-up styles that work for short and/or medium length hair. Of course, these can also be done with longer hair, and not everything will work for everyone, but hey — it’s better than nothing! Check out these half-up hairstyle tutorials now:
