Hailee Steinfeld is a contender for the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of the novel, The Fault in Our Stars. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 16-year-old Oscar nominated actress is in the running against Shailene Woodley for the lead role. Based on the popular novel by John Green, the book (and the film) centers on a 16-year-old cancer patient who falls for a boy in her support group as they both deal with their illness.

Production on the film is scheduled to start some time this summer, which has raised questions as to whether or not 21-year-old Shailene would fit into the film, as she begins shooting Divergent in Chicago this April. In addition to starring in the sure-to-be YA blockbuster film, she also is signed on to play Mary Jane Watson in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. However, though many details are unknown, it’s assumed that the Mary Jane role in this film will be a minor one.

Both Shailene and Hailee have lots of projects on their plate, as Hailee is set to star in the big screen adaptation of the YA novel Ender’s Game, which is being released in November of this year. Also, she is filming Three Days to Kill alongside big screen legend Kevin Costner.

While both are great actresses (Hailee was nominated for an Oscar, Shailene a Golden Globe) which do YOU think should star in The Fault in Our Stars? Cast your vote in the poll, and let us know what you think about this potential casting in the comments.
