Photos of Gwen Stefani’s Fearless Fashion Through the Years
It takes a lot of guts to front a band. But Gwen Stefani‘s always been bold and commanding in her stage presence and style, so she has no probs with it whatsoever. Following her ensemble choices is almost as entertaining as watching No Doubt perform (like they did at Teen Choice 2012), right? Sure, Gwenny’s popped up on our worst dressed list lots of times, but we love her for it all along, because girl is seriously committed to fashion. She does have her own clothing line, L.A.M.B. And we’re expecting even more crazy stage outfits with new No Doubt music! Here are some of her most memorable outfits, for both good and awful reasons. And don’t forget to tell us your thoughts on Gwen’s style in the comments!
Don’t Speak… About This Outfit
Forever embedded in our brains, this look is the worst of Gwen’s worst. The blue fur bikini top, blue hair, weird space circle skirt and a pair of pants underneath it all. This won’t be the last bikini top and pants combo on this list, but, this outfit is from 1998. So we should prob give the girl a break.
Who’s Afraid of Pink?
Not Gwen. Because, truth, she’s never been afraid of any color. Even though this rainbow-bright ensemble reflects her colorful personality, it has us shielding our eyes.
Room to Move Around
We get it. Commanding the audience’s attention requires a lot of movement and proper performance attire should be roomy. But these pants are a little too roomy. Who needs that many zippers anyway?
Rocking It Steady
Gwen basically rocked this look 24/7 while promoting No Doubt’s Rock Steady in 2001. It’s definitely another “only Gwen” look. We want to hate it, but she makes it hard for us.
(Almost) Full-On Menswear
Hanging with the guys is no problem for the “Hey Baby” singer. And she dresses like them sometimes too, but with her own stomach-baring twist and a cane for attitude.
Definitely Not Regulation
This isn’t your standard sailor uniform, guys. But why would Gwen ever wear a standard piece of clothing? At least the top half is perfect for sunbathing.
Plenty of Plaid
Gwen embraces all kinds of patterns, but she definitely has a penchant for plaid. Here, she wears it in a gown with an asymmetrical neckline and hem. There’s a lot going on here, even before your eyes are drawn to the gang of Harajuku girls in the background.
A Little Windblown
We were all blown away by Gwen’s solo career and the crazy outfits she wore to keep up with her Harajuku girls entourage. It looks like she had the same effect on herself. Although, it’s kind of awesome.
Chic Mommy Duty
She sure pulls off chic mom-on-duty for a girl that used to live in track pants and sports bras back in No Doubt’s early days.
Rain Boots and Drop Crotch
We can get behind the chain bracelet arm candy and the sheer panels. Those red plaid rain boots and drop crotch are unforgivable, though.
Head-to-Toe Animal Print
Maybe you recognize this from one of our recent worst dressed lists. We don’t recommend wearing this much animal print at one time, not even if you’re part of the cast of Jersey Shore.
