It’s another Glee/American Idol crossover! According to Ryan Murphy, the two FOX shows are joining forces yet again as one of AI‘s most well-known alums is heading over to the hit dramedy.

The Glee creator proclaimed, “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”

Although Adam’s yet to make a comment about the big casting reveal, Lea Michele already made her welcome statement on Twitter: “Omg so excited that @adamlambert is going to be on #Glee this season! I hope he’s with me in NYC! #GleeSeason5”

So far, no details as to the singer’s role on the show have been expressed. Will he be a series regular, or have a recurring/guest spot? If his part’s anything like fellow American Idol alum Jessica Sanchez‘s, then we won’t be seeing much of the star as she only garnered a couple episodes playing a diva singer at a rival glee club who sang, like, one song.

What do you think of the news? Does this help make up for the female casting shake-up? Go ahead and spill all of your Gleek-y thoughts in the comments below, or on our Glee message board!

Psst, we spent an entire day with The Glee Project winner Blake Jenner!
