Glee fans already know that the entire cast is coming back for season four, even if it’s for limited roles (Rachel will be the only McKinley High class of 2012 graduate to appear in every episode), but with eight members of New Directions graduated (Rachel, Finn, Quinn, Mike, Kurt, Puck, Santana and Mercedes), the show has some holes to fill, cast-wise. So that’s why it was just announced that Dean Geyer and Jacob Artist will join the rest of McKinley’s finest as cast members in season four!

Dean Geyer will play Brody Weston, an older student at NYADA who shows an interest in Lea Michele’s newly single character Rachel. With Finn off at boot camp, Brody might be just the distraction that Rachel needs! Dean, who was born in South Africa and moved to Australia when he was 15, was a longtime cast member on the Australian soap opera Neighbours. Americans first caught a glimpse of him as Mark Reynolds in last summer’s Jurassic-Park-meets-LOST  Fox show Terra Nova, which was cancelled after its first season. He’s a perfect fit for Glee; in addition to being an actor, he also finished third on Australian Idol in 2006.

Jacob Artist will take on the role of Jake, Puck’s younger half-brother (even though they look nothing alike) who will be a student at McKinley High School. Jacob has guest-starred on Melissa & Joey, How to Rock and Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures, and was most recently seen in the Lifetime movie Blue Lagoon: The Awakening. He also recently filmed The Philosophers, a movie with Harry Potter’s Bonnie Wright and Freddie Stroma, in Indonesia. Puck (Mark Salling) had some daddy drama last season, so it will be interesting to see if Jake and Puck’s storylines tie into that. We wonder if Jake will be a singing/dancing tough guy like his brother?

Both are super excited for their new roles. Dean just tweeted, “WOW!! i feel absolutely speechless, and so honoured to be joining the undeniably talented team of @GLEEonFOX !! :)” followed by “im very excited for the journey, and im warming my voice up as we speak ;)” Jacob tweeted, “Beyond excited to be joining the cast of the insanely talented @GLEEonFox !!!”

In addition to Dean and Jacob, the winner (or winners) of season two of The Glee Project will also join Kevin McHale (who co-hosted last night’s Teen Choice Awards), Chord Overstreet, Heather Morris and the rest of the Glee cast for season four.
