‘Glee’-cap! Ranking the Performances from “Tina in the Sky with Diamonds”
It’s prom time for everyone at McKinley (since the show’s creators probably realized there are only four seniors in New Directions now). And, of course, four members of the glee club are in the running for prom king and queen — Artie, Blaine, Tina and… Kitty? (She’s only a sophomore, but k.) But only one of ’em takes home a win. Get a peek at the spoiler-filled recap below, as well as our rankings for each of the performances from Glee‘s “Tina in the Sky with Diamonds” episode.
Kurt feels like Rachel’s lost her mojo after believing she didn’t snag the lead in Funny Girl, so they’re looking to get that mojo back. So they pick the perfect song from The Beatles as it is aptly-titled. But, honestly, it’s just not that exciting of a performance.
Because no one can be on the show without being partnered up with someone or at least looking for love, Sam falls for the new nurse (well, she’s actually a sophomore in college), Penny. It’s a quirkier performance, yeah. Yet, we’re still not totally feeling it.
Two words: Demi. Lovato. And when she duets with Naya Rivera‘s character, magic happens. Both vocally and emotionally. Santana has, after all, not found anyone to fill the void left by Brittany. Go, Team Dantana!
We get that the costumes are part of the group’s tribute to The Beatles. But would the glee club members (slash anyone) really wear those ensembs to their own prom?
For the first time all night, we get to hear Darren Criss‘ smooth vocals, so points for that. And it’s a spirit-lifting tune as they sing it to Tina after she gets the Carrie treatment and gets a bucket of red
Congratulations are in order for Rachel — she snags the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl! This is what follows, and it is beaut:
