It looks like Glee casting directors will no longer be turning to The Glee Project to find fresh faces for the show. TVLine reports that Oxygen has cancelled the show after just two seasons.

Of the show’s past two winners — Damian McGinty and Blake Jenner — only Blake is still currently a cast member. However, Damian was heavily featured in season three. Even though they didn’t end up winning, other stars from The Glee Project were brought on including Alex Newell and Samuel Larsen, with Alex being promoted to a series regular (along with Blake) for season five.

Although, the fate of season five is now somewhat unknown due to the untimely passing of Cory Monteith. Also, producers assure that Cory’s death didn’t influence their decision to cancel the show, with sources telling TVLine this decision was made “weeks” ago. Thanks to Glee‘s late renewal, they weren’t able to get a third season of the show up and running in time to find someone new for season five.
