Girl Meets World has found its girl. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard has been cast as Riley, aka Cory and Topanga’s daughter in Disney Channel’s highly-anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off. A nationwide search was ignited to find the right girl, and it appears that Rowan was everything the casting directors wanted — and more.

According to Girl Meets World producer Michael Jacobs, “As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews.” Michael continued, “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”

Some of Rowan’s acting credits include the 2011 film Spy Kids: All the Time in World in 4D which she starred in with Jessica Alba, as well as the 2010 film The Back-Up Plan which also starred Jennifer Lopez.

Ben Savage, who played Cory Matthews on the hit show from 1993 to 2000 and will reprise his role for Girl Meets World, tweeted about the good news, saying, “I have a beautiful, new daughter. Welcome to the family @rowblanchard! #GirlMeetsWorld.”

Though the news is exciting, seeing the pilot itself is still quite a bit away. Production is scheduled to start next month, and if it the pilot is ordered to series (which many are predicting will happen) it will premiere on the Disney Channel during the  2013 – 2014 schedule.
