YouTube Star Detained for Hours in Foreign Country for Being Transgender

As a transgender woman, Gigi Gorgeous has been a huge supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. But just because the YouTube star who openly documented her transition on her channel preaches love and acceptance every chance she gets doesn’t mean the rest of the world feels the same.

Just hours after she wrote about traveling “somewhere DOPE soon,” the 24-year-old’s plans for a fun trip were absolutely demolished. According to TMZ, the YouTuber arrived in Dubai only to be detained by an immigration officer who would not allow her entry into the country because she is transgender.

“I was told you are transgender,” the officer reportedly said. “You cannot come into the country.”

Although Gigi was born Gregory Lazzarato, her passport has been updated to reflect her new name and proper gender. But according to the official, this isn’t the case and since the “imitation of women by men” is illegal in Dubai, she couldn’t enter.

After five scary hours being held without her passport and virtually no way of getting home, the blonde beauty was finally released and documented the moment when her friend came to her rescue.

“After being detained and held at the Dubai airport for over 5 hours, this was the moment my baby came to rescue me. Yesterday was one of the scariest moments of my entire life and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. How you can be denied entry somewhere just because of who you are is seriously disgusting and also very scary. This further proves the need for CHANGE. I am now on my way to somewhere much more accepting. Safe and sound and happy. I love you guys.”

We are SO happy that Gigi is okay after this scary and completely unfair situation.
