8 Gay Male Celebrities Who Dated a Girl Before Coming Out
Coming out as homosexual, bisexual, transgender, etc., is a lengthy process for most people. For some, they know from very early in life that they are gay. For others, however, it can take quite some time to learn to embrace who they truly are.
In that process of growing, many now-openly-gay men in Hollywood did something that many other closeted individuals did in the past — dated a member of the opposite sex because that’s what they were “supposed to do.” While stars like Joey Graceffa and Neil Patrick Harris are now in very happy same-sex relationships, they definitely had to go through some failed dating experiences to get them there.
In high school, Connor said, he "tried to avoid [being gay] by dating girls" so he could "be like everyone else." But even though he was spending time with women and even kissing some of them, the YouTube star said he "would feel nothing." It wasn't until his sophomore year of college that he was able to say the words "I'm gay" to himself, and from there he slowly began opening up to his friends and family about his sexual orientation.
