Social Media Star Who’s Racist Against Own Race Defends Herself HORRIBLY

By  |

Let this be a warning for all of you: Whatever you write or say on the Internet can haunt you — even years later. Instagram model Lily May Mac is learning that the hard way after a batch of tweets that she wrote from 2011 to 2013 recently resurfaced; tweets that depict the Filipina beauty as racist… against members of her own race: Asian.

At the time of the OG tweets, LMM, who currently has 3 million followers on the photo-sharing app, was an unknown teen, tweeting messages that praise white men and tear down Asian men. (To be clear, Mac, whose real name is Lily May Macapinlac, is 100% Filipina. She and her family, however, moved to Australia.) Here are some of the ~best~ examples:

Despite the time between then and now, the Instagrammer is currently under fire for her past words… but she’s not exactly making the best case for herself. In fact, she defended herself HORRIBLY to one Twitter user:

So, basically, she can’t be racist because she likes Japanese animations, eats Chinese/Japanese/etc. cuisine and has the privilege of traveling to some Asian countries. Like… you can still eat sushi and be racist, girl. The correct defense would be, oh, we don’t know, actually acknowledging that you, yourself, are part of the very race people claim you’re racist against!

Eventually, she realized that she was in the wrong… sorta, apologizing for the errors in her word choices, but not to the Asian community; the community that makes up her entire background.

Considering her mom’s feelings about their ethnicity, we guess her mentality shouldn’t be surprising:

Lily and Tila Tequila should def meet up ’cause that girl forgot where she came from, too.

Lily’s not the first social media star called out for racism — all of these YouTubers were, too:
