16 Female Musicians Who Switched Their Genre, Mid-Career
When we think of some of our favorite musicians and their music, the first thing that comes to mind is usually their biggest hits. For example, when we think about Taylor Swift‘s music, we pretty much immediately bust out into the chorus of “Look What You Made Me Do” or “…Ready for It?” and when we think of Katy Perry, our minds instantly go to “Swish Swish.”
What we don’t think about as often, however, is the fact that some of our favorite artists, regardless of genre, actually began their careers in a completely different genre altogether. Luckily, in many cases, it wound up working out best for the artist and their fans. Why? Well, because the fans got new music while the artist got to try something new and test their limits. And, after all, in order to stay relevant in the music industry, you’ve gotta keep things fresh, right?
