When musicians cover their famous ex’s music post-breakup, there are so many fans who ship everything about it. Take, for instance, when Nick Jonas belted out an acoustic version of former love Miley Cyrus‘ “The Climb” in early 2010 — Niley stans died a little bit that day. Or when Demi Lovato took on Carpool Karaoke and crooned DNCE‘s “Cake by the Ocean,” OG sung by her past boyfriend, Joe Jonas — how cool was that? But the latest instance of a singer covering his famous ex’s tune is not like one of these happy occasions.

Recently, The Vamps decided to sing Fifth Harmony‘s girl-power anthem, “That’s My Girl”, at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge — and Harmonizers RAGED. That’s because the girl group’s Lauren Jauregui has a not-so-great dating history with the guy group’s Brad Simpson.

In January 2015, during an interview with Australia’s Take 40, Brad was prompted about his relationship with Lauren. But before he was able to confirm or deny their status, James McVey and Tristan Evans jumped in and said they all had “a bit of a go” at her. Wha-?!

To add insult to injury, in The Vamps’ “I Found A Girl,” Lau’s ex-boyfriend crooned, “I found a girl // Who’s in love with a girl // She said that she tried // But she’s not into guys // Oh, why, tell me why // Did I fall for those eyes? // She said I was nice // But she’s not into guys.” So, many believed he was insinuating something about the 5H girl’s sexual orientation (which we now know is bisexual) before she ever came out.

Needless to say, Harmonizers are furious that the band is even touching a 5H track:

And The Vamps fans certainly dished it back.

Sigh, wonder what Lau thinks of all this.
You can now add Lauren Jauregui to the list of female celebrities who came out in the past year:
