Ed Sheeran Wins Best Pop Solo at the 2018 Grammys & People are PISSED
Despite not being in the audience, Ed Sheeran snagged the award for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2018 Grammys last night. After all, “Shape of You” was a big hit last year. Unfortunately for the British singer, many are FUMING over the news.
As evidenced by, like… half of Twitter, people are up in arms over the 26-year-old musician’s win ’cause he beat out four — yes, FOUR — women; women with bomb singles. P!nk was nominated for “What About Us,” Kesha was nominated for “Praying,” Lady Gaga was nominated for “Million Reasons,” Kelly Clarkson was nominated for “Love So Soft” — and all of them were actually at the event, patiently waiting to learn if they’d won in the Best Pop Solo Performance category. As previously mentioned, though, the man who won wasn’t even in attendance.
Needless to say, people are up in arms:
I guess it’s a good thing Kesha didn’t win over Ed Sheeran, since the music industry doesn’t seem to care about examining its abuses of power

how dare you snub kesha in favor of a glorified wedding singer

"Ed Sheeran" is a hell of a way to mispronounce "Kesha."

Ed also took home the top prize for Best Pop Vocal Album for his CD, ÷, over Kesha’s Rainbow, Lady Gaga’s Joanne, Lana Del Rey‘s Lust for Life, Imagine Dragons‘ Evolve and Coldplay‘s Kaleidoscope EP — but that wasn’t aired on television, and there were other men up for the trophy, so it’s overlooked.
So, where the heck was the man of the hour? As of now, Ed has not said a word… but Ellen DeGeneres did, claiming that she asked him to “pet sit” last night:

We’re sure she was joking, and we’re not exactly surprised by his absence. Earlier this month, word had it that he, along with bestie Taylor Swift, would boycott the ceremony because he felt jilted that he didn’t get nominated for Record of the Year or Album of the Year. Drama, drama, drama…
