Dylan O’Brien Has Seemingly Been Cast in New Crime Movie The Bayou

When Dylan O’Brien wrapped The Maze Runner: The Death Cure, he joked about not having a job and being desperate for work. The 26-year-old was obviously kidding, but it must’ve been at least slightly stressful not to have something lined up. All stress can be eliminated now, however, because it’s looking like the actor has been cast in an upcoming crime movie called The Bayou.

Dyl’s name is listed on the film’s official IMDd page as the role of Ceto. Academy-Award winner Gary Oldman is also attached to the project as Tickie.

The flick is about “a young ‘street soldier’ [who] must choose between his mentor, working for the crime syndicate who has taken care of him, and a 15-year-old runaway girl they have enslaved.”

While IMDd is often an accurate source for all things Hollywood, it sometimes gets it wrong. That being said, The Bayou‘s screenwriter W. Peter Iliff basically confirmed the casting news in a series of tweets. At first he tried to stay tight-lipped about the details, not using any names and trying to avoid making an official announcement.

But when he realized IMDb spilled the beans, he began to open up more and actually use Dylan’s name.

The writer also mentioned that 18-year-old actress Joey King is in talks to play the 15-year-old girl in the movie.

This casting news isn’t 100% confirmed, as the studio hasn’t made an official announcement, but it’s looking very likely that we’ll be seeing Dylan on the big screen again in the near(ish) future!
