Dolan Twins Announce They Are Taking an Indefinite Break from YouTube
Logan Paul continues to get criticized for making effed-up videos on the regular, and yet it’s the Dolan Twins who are taking a break from YouTube. *sobs* Ethan and Grayson Dolan told fans that they were going to get “open and honest” with them in this week’s video and BOY did they fulfill that promise.
The 18-year-olds posted a vid earlier today titled “Bye For Now” and no, it’s not clickbait.
“We’re gonna need to go away for a little while,” Ethan says right off the bat.
Grayson explains that he and his brother have been feeling “stuck creatively lately” and the way for them to overcome that is to take a step back from YT.
Ethan continues, “There’s a couple of things we need to take care of in our lives beyond YouTube, in order to kind of free ourselves from this sticky situation. […] We’ve been running away from the fact that YouTube is kind of becoming a job and losing its spark for us. Creating videos and everything just doesn’t have its magic that it used to.”
The boys acknowledge that some people may wonder why they can’t just start making videos they feel passionately about instead of stepping away from the site completely, but that’s easier said than done.
“I’m kind of lost about what I’m passionate about and I kinda need to figure it out,” Ethan says. “I’m just kind of stuck in my head and I definitely need a mental health break.”
But try not to worry too much, people. While the twins aren’t sure how long they’ll be stepping away from YouTube, they are “NOT leaving forever.”
As you can probably imagine, fans are incredibly upset over this news. They do, however, only want the best for Ethan and Grayson and are trying to be as supportive as possible.
“Thank you all for understanding,” Grayson tweeted shortly after the video went live.
We hope the boys take the time they need to get their heads in check and come back feeling better than ever.
