‘A Good Day to Die Hard’ Actor Jai Courtney Cast as Eric in ‘Divergent’
With Divergent scheduled to begin filming in Chicago this coming April, expect to see the final touches of the casting list in the next few weeks. Today, we’re pleased to announce another addition: Jai Courtney.
According to Variety, in the book-to-movie adaptation, Jai, who played Bruce Willis’ son in A Good Day to Die Hard, will portray Eric, a transfer from his original faction of Erudite who became a leader of Dauntless when Four (the male protagonist who’s yet to be cast) turned down the job. He’s 18 years old, has multiple piercings and a long, dark, greasy mane. Guess that hair-and-makeup department’s going to have a lot of fun with this one.
Jai will be working alongside Shailene Woodley, who’s been attached to the project since October 2012 as its heroine, Beatrice “Tris” Prior. Meanwhile, three new cast members were added to the lineup this week: Zoe Kravitz (Christina), Maggie Q (Tori) and newbie Ansel Elgort (Caleb). Kate Winslet‘s also tapped to play a role in the film as Jeanine Matthews, the leader of the Erudite faction.
We’re still waiting on a few key characters. Besides Tris’ love interest, Tobias “Four” Eaton, the part The Hunger Games‘ Alexander Ludwig was gunning for but was denied casting, the movie’s also on the lookout for Dauntless-born initiate Uriah, whom many suspect Romeo Miller wishes to portray.
