Veronica Roth Announces Plans for Four New ‘Divergent’ Stories
On Tumblr, the young writer says, “There are going to be Divergent e-shorts!” Four to be exact. And guess who they’re about: Four (a.k.a. Tobias Eaton)! “Four has never just been Tris’ love interest or a way for sexual tension to enter the story. He has always been a whole person with a history that affects him (and Tris) in significant ways, and a co-mover of the plot along with Tris. These stories are helping me to delve into his character in a way I never have before, and to build up parts of the world that Tris never experienced due to her limited perspective. Interestingly enough, they also affected the content of Allegiant, giving me more to draw from.”
Of course Allegiant refers to the title of the third and final book in the original Divergent trilogy, with Beatrice “Tris” Prior at the helm, which will be released this October. But if you can’t wait until then, you’re in luck. The first of Veronica’s fresh features, The Transfer, will debut on September 24, and she promises that it’ll be longer than Free Four, which told the story of the epic knife-throwing scene from the male hero’s perspective in 13 pages.
Currently, the movie adaptation, starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, is filming in Chicago, and the script for the second in the series, Insurgent, is already underway! We know, it’s a lot to take in. But if you’re freaking out, you’re not alone. Leave all your thoughts in the comments below, or on our Divergent message board!
