7 Emotions One Will Experience During Ellie Goulding’s Divergent Track
There’s less than a month until Divergent hits theaters. That means in just four weeks, we’ll see Tris, Four and the rest of Veronica Roth‘s characters come to life on the big screen. Squee! But before that momentous occasion comes, at least we’re given a few juicy tidbits to hold us over, including part of the soundtrack.
In an Entertainment Weekly exclusive, the world was able to experience one of Ellie Goulding‘s FOUR songs for the film, “Beating Heart.” Except, unlike the other three, this one’s brand-spanking-new. Here’s what director Neil Burger had to say about the singer’s addition, “In the last scene of the movie, Tris has just experienced multiple tragedies, even as she triumphs (for the moment) over her enemies. Ellie wrote ‘Beating Heart’ and we knew it’d be perfect for the end of the movie. Her lyrics almost merge with Tris’ voice-over and her music lets the movie soar above the tragedy. The sadness is still there, but so is the transcendence. It’s a fantastic song.”
Before you hear it, we’re gonna just fill you in on the range of emotions you’ll definitely experience while listening to it for the first (or twentieth) time:
Overwhelmed by the tune’s sheer beauty.
Elated and full of joy.
Exhausted because you feel like your
beating heart just went through the wringer. Is anyone else, like, really hot right now?
Pride because you know your favorite book’s gonna be all sorts of epic on the big screen. This song already proves it.
A mixed bag of feels.
Wonderment. It’s just so magical.
Sexiness — I just wanna be by your side // Here’s hoping we collide.
Divergent hits theaters on March 21, but you can listen to Ellie Goulding’s “Beating Heart” track right here. Are you feeling all the emotions? Don’t lie. Tell us in the comments below, or on our Divergent message board!
