Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, and Newcomer Ansel Elgort Land Roles in ‘Divergent’
The jury is still out on whether or not Alexander Ludwig will star in Divergent, but three actors have actually been added to the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, X-Men: First Class star Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Christina, Nikita‘s Maggie Q has been cast as Tori, and newcomer Ansel Elgort will take on the role of Caleb.
Not up to speed on their characters? Let us help you out! First of all, Divergent is set in a dystopian future where citizens live in one of five factions based on personality traits. At 16, teens go through a ceremony where they either reaffirm the commitment to their faction, or go to another one (which is pretty rare). Tris (Shailene Woodley) switches to “Dauntless” which commends bravery. There, she meets Christina (Zoe) and the two form a bond.
In the book, Tris is inspired by her brother Caleb (Ansel) to choose a different faction. Also, Tori (Maggie) is the owner of a tattoo parlor who assists in the faction-choosing ceremony, and ends up helping out Tris along the way of her journey.
One reason why this news is so exciting? It means that the announcement of who will play Four can’t be far away!
The film will also star Kate Winslet, and is set to begin production in Chicago some time in April. What do you think of these casting choices? Are they what you pictured? Sound off in the comments section!
