10 Pairs of Disney-Nick BFFs Who Stuck Together Despite Rival Networks
Even though one specializes in green, goopy slime and the other can’t stop drawing Mickey Mouse ears with wands, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel have a ton in common. The networks launched within just a few years of each other — Nick was first, if you must know — and have consistently dished out classic shows we can’t get enough of, as well as launched the careers of our favorite A-listers.
It’s hard to imagine a world without Bella Thorne‘s craziness and Ariana Grande‘s high ponytail, but who knows if we would have even known their names if these beloved babes hadn’t been on TV first. And we can’t help but think, what would Saturday Night Live be without Kenan Thompson? Or worse yet, what if Justin Bieber didn’t have Selena Gomez to write songs about?
Clearly, the list goes on and on. We have a lot to thank these networks for. But as much as we love keeping up with these child stars after they’ve moved on to bigger and better things, we love that they keep up with each other. Disney and Nick stars are notorious for their cliques, after all. Being cast on a new show is basically an invite to an instant friend group with a bunch of talented teens, which is why none of us are surprised by all the Disney-on-Disney friendships that have outlasted certain shows like Selena Gomez and David Henrie. The Nick-on-Nick ones are cute, too, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t rooting for Josh Peck and Drake Bell to stay best buds — wedding dramz aside.
So what happens when our favorite stars from opposite networks collide? Sometimes feuds, and sometimes friendships! Just because actors found their footing on different channels doesn’t mean they can’t hit it off with each other.
Nat Wolff and Selena Gomez
It's safe to say Selena is one of Disney's greatest success stories. After starring on Wizards of Waverly Place and in Princess Protection Program, she moved on from the channel to pursue music and feature films. And while she still hangs out with other DC alums occasionally, she considers Nat Wolff, one of the stars of Nickelodeon's Naked Brothers Band, a great friend
It all started when they co-starred in Behaving Badly in 2014 and continued when they worked together a year later in In Dubious Battle. The 25-year-old posted a photo of them on set with the caption, "...doing movies with a best friend is NOT considered work." So sweet! We don't know what kind of shenanigans these two get into when they're hanging off camera, but we'd love an invite. Hint-hint.
