You’ll Never Guess How Dinah Jane Hansen is Celebrating Her Birthday!

By  |

Just last year, the Fifth Harmony girls were gearing up for their tour with Demi Lovato, and now they already kicked off their second headlining tour of the year! Of course this should come as no surprise; with the release of hit after hit — not to mention “Worth It” recently hitting PLATINUM — it’s clear that the pop sensations are here for the long haul.

Needless to say, we had to steal Dinah Jane Hansen from her crazy schedule so that she could spill on all the 5H deets. Between you and us, she did NOT disappoint. She told us everything about her awesome birthday plans (her big day was on June 22, but she still has celebrations in order), what Harmonizers can expect to see on tour, plus she had plenty to say about Little Mix‘s latest single, “Black Magic.” Trust us, you won’t want to miss this one:

Congratulations on the upcoming tour! What are you looking forward to the most?
“Yeah, thank you! It’s so awesome. It’s so much fun. We’re loving it. It’s the perfect summer concert. It’s outdoors, so we have music going and the sun on us. It’s a lot of fun and we’re so excited. We also have really great artists joining us, too. I’m really excited to hear them play.”

Last year you girls toured with Demi Lovato and now you’re headlining your second tour! It’s been a crazy year. Is there one memory that stands out the most?
“Yeah, touring with Demi was awesome. Definitely the last day on the tour with Demi was one of my favorites. It was a big prank day, so we were having a lot of fun with that. I had a pie and threw it at Demi. It was so funny, but afterwards I was so afraid for my life because she was coming after me! It was just so much fun. So, that’s something we’ll always remember.”

Did Demi give any advice on headlining?
“Yeah, she was really sweet and always gave great advice. She told us to stay true to who we are throughout the whole thing. She said how important it is to not lose sight of ourselves.”

Little Mix was also on that tour. Have you heard “Black Magic” yet?
“YES! It’s so great. We love it so much! The first time we heard it, we were, like, jamming. When it’s on, I have to sing along to it. This video is also so great. It’s really funny. I wish I could be in that video!”

Since you’re image has been evolving lately, what can fans expect to see on the tour? How do you guys feel about this shift?
“Well, it’s kind of just a continuation. We’re all getting older — I just turned 18, finally legal! It was actually funny, though. We were out in London the other night trying to go to the club and they wouldn’t let me in because I was still 17. We were telling the bouncer that it was my birthday, like, the next day, but he didn’t budge. So, now I’m 18 and that won’t be happening *laughs*! Anyway, we’re all getting older and we’re making that shift in our music as well.”

Speaking of birthdays, a couple of you have celebrated your birthdays in BIG ways this year. (Camila Cabello celebrated with Taylor Swift, Normani Kordei celebrated with Zendaya, etc.) Do you have any big plans for yours?
“We’re actually celebrating tonight! Lauren [Jauregui]‘s birthday is coming up too, so she wanted to have a mini party. I haven’t had the chance to actually celebrate mine yet because we’ve been busy, but when I do, I’m going to Chuck E. Cheese with my family. I can’t wait! It’s my entire birthday month. I’ll keep celebrating all month!”

It’s been a few months now since “Worth It” was released as a single. Any plans to release another single from Reflection? Or will the next one most likely be from a future album?
“Yeah, I’m not sure yet. It’ll probably be from Reflection. I think we’re just trying to focus on “Worth It” for a while now. It just went Platinum, and it was our first song to go Platinum! That’s been awesome. Our next one will have to match that and it won’t be easy! We’ll have another good one, though!”

You’re also performing at Live Nation’s Show of the Summer (WIN TICKETS HERE!) with R5, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter, and a bunch of others! Since you’ve worked with Shawn already on Austin Mahone’s tour, how do you feel about reuniting? Have you heard any part of his new album?
“I can’t wait! We love Shawn. He’s like a big brother to us. It’ll be so fun to be back with him. We were listening to some stuff from his new album and it’s awesome. He wrote pretty much the entire album, so I have to give him big props for that! That’s pretty impressive.”

Last year when we spoke, we talked about the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries. So, obviously, we HAVE to talk about Season 6. Did you catch it? What are your thoughts on Elena’s exit?
“OH MY GOD! Yes, I LOVE The Vampire Diaries. I’m not caught up, though. I really need to get on that. But, I saw that Nina Dobrev was leaving, I was like, ‘Is that a joke?’ I really thought they were trying to play a trick on all of us or something. It’s so sad. I almost cried. Maybe they’ll do a spin-off. They kind of did that with the other show, The Originals. That’s when I started to get behind because it was a lot to watch. I’m going to make sure I get caught up, though. I’ll probably need an entire week!”

Fifth Harmony’s Reflection: The Summer Tour kicks off on Wednesday, July 15 in Louisville, KY. Until then, stay tuned for more updates on your favorite fivesome!
