Demi Lovato’s Mom Thought Daughter Was Going to Marry Wilmer Valderrama
When Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama got together, everyone was skeptical. Ya know, especially since the singer was underage at the time. The 25-year-old’s mom was also unsure about her daughter dating the much-older actor and didn’t want them “to be together.”
“I want this time with my daughter, and now I’ve gotta share it with [Wilmer],” Dianna de la Garza recalled about her early thoughts on Dilmer during an appearance on Millennial Hollywood with Dakota T. Jones.
“At one time I was like, ‘You know, I like you, but I’m not sure I want you to be together,’ you know?”
The 55-year-old eventually realized, however, that Wilmer is “so likable and just a lovely human being” and quickly began supporting the relationship. In fact, she even “had a realization” at one point and decided she had to get to know him better because she believed he was going marry Demi.
She explained, “[I] wanted to go and get to know him better because… I thought they were gonna get married.”
“We had all hung out, but I hadn’t really made that effort,” she said. “And once I made that effort, I really came to really truly love him as a person — and as a person that I really wanted to be in our family.”
Dianna quickly got close with the 38-year-old and, as you can imagine, was pretty heartbroken when he and D.Lo broke up.
“I think Demi came to a point where she wanted to make some decisions in her life, and when that happened, it just really broke us all. I mean we were just so upset,” she added.
Dilmer hasn’t been a thing for almost two years now, but DDLG still believes the NCIS star still loves the “Tell Me You Love Me” crooner.
“He was just so gracious and caring, and he still is to this day,” she said. “I believe he loves her, and she loves him.”
