Demi Lovato Basically Admitted She Has Feelings for Nick Jonas in New Song

People have been shipping Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas together since their Camp Rock days, but the celebs always assured everyone that they were just friends. But, according to the 25-year-old’s new song, “Ruin the Friendship,” which she said “everyone is going to know who it’s about,” it seems that she secretly wanted more.

The tune starts like this:

“Put down your cigar and pick me up / Play me your guitar, that song I love / Thirsty for your love, fill my cup up / I only got good intentions, so give me your attention.”

The former Jonas Brother LOVES his cigars, and we all know he’s one of the best guitar players around. So, while these lyrics aren’t necessarily confirmation, they’re definitely enough to get the speculation going.

In an interview with Noisey, Demi admitted that both “RTF” and “Only Forever,” a track about imagining a future with someone you know you’re meant to be with, are about Nick Jonas the same person.

“I was frustrated with a certain situation,” the singer explained. “And I was like, ‘You know what, I’m just going to write about it.’ And so I did, and sent [the songs] to that person, and that was…interesting. Any time you send a song about the person, to the person — it’s ballsy. It’s like, ‘Hey! Here’s my feelings for you!’ […] They knew [about my feelings], but neither of us had acknowledged [them] before. And then it turned out that person had written a song about me, and we exchanged songs.”

So, what happened after DL sent this ~mystery person~ the song?

“That person was like, ‘That’s an incredible song.’ And I was like, “Yeah, well. It’s like, ‘Hel-LO!’ They had their reasons. But, yeah.”

Perhaps those “reasons” had something to do with the fact that Demi once dated Joe Jonas, and that would be the ultimate violation of the bro-code.

It wouldn’t be unheard of if Nick and Demi went from friends to lovers…look at all the couples who did it in the past:
