Demi Lovato Officially Returning as ‘X Factor’ Judge
Demi Lovato is coming back for another round of The X Factor. TVLine is reporting that the 20-year-old “Heart Attack” singer will be the only returning judge — aside from Simon Cowell — for the third season of the U.S. version of the hit FOX singing competition.
In a press release, Demi said, “I am so excited to return as a judge and mentor on The X Factor. Last season was an unbelievable experience and I really enjoyed developing personal relationships with the contestants and the panel. I look forward to taking my previous experience and applying it to make this season even better.”
Demi joined the show in its second season alongside new judge Britney Spears, and former judges Simon Cowell and music exec L.A. Reid. However, both L.A. and Britney will not be returning for the show’s third season. During Demi’s first season on the FOX show, she was mentor to the Young Adults category, and although none of them made it to the top three, she did end up performing with girl group Fifth Harmony during the show’s finale.
Simon also spoke about Demi’s return saying, “I couldn’t be happier that Demi wants to come back this year. She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really, really annoying – I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists. I’m especially pleased she’s back even during her world tour!”
It’s still unknown who will be filling in the two other judge spots, but Demi did reveal that she would love for Lady Gaga to join both her and Simon at the judges table.
