People Accuse Demi Lovato of Racism After What She Said About Her Exes

It seems like every week, there’s a new case of Demi Lovato sticking her foot in her mouth. She tried to steal Zendaya‘s shine when Z got her own Barbie doll, she claimed a mug was her favorite dish, she put herself on the same level as Nicki Minaj & Rihanna… We could go on and on, but you get the idea. This time around, the 23-year-old’s is getting into hot water over what some people are calling a racist quote.

The “Confident” singer is the latest star to grace the cover of Latina magazine. As such, there was an accompanying interview, in which she praises boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama and — seemingly unknowingly — takes a dig at white men. “When I dated white guys, it wasn’t as passionate as my relationship with Wilmer,” she explained. “Maybe that’s just Wilmer.” But wait, here comes the kicker: “But I do believe that Latin people are just more expressive, more passionate with their emotions.”

The Disney Channel alum continued to sing Wilmer’s praises after the statement, saying, “He’s very manly, and he can be stubborn like Latino men can, but he’s protective and he cares so much and loves so hard. I’ve been blessed enough to have him in my life, and not just as my man, but also my best friend.” Nevertheless, people are now accusing Demi of discrimination because of that one aforementioned sentence:

So far, Demi has yet to address the comment. HOWEVER, Demi herself is half white (her mother is of English and Irish descent), so we’re sure discrimination wasn’t her intent.

Clearly, Demi Lovato’s a confident woman. SO confident, that she thinks she’s worth a big-money meet-and-greet — like all of these stars:
