BREAKING: Demi Lovato Reportedly Hospitalized for Heroin Overdose
UPDATE: A source tells PEOPLE that Demi is “okay and stable.”
Demi Lovato has reportedly suffered a heroin overdose. TMZ reports that the 25-year-old singer was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital just before noon on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, where she is currently being treated. Her condition is not known at the moment.
Law enforcement sources tell the site that DL was given Narcan, an emergency treatment for drug overdoses, at her home in the Hollywood Hills, where the OD occurred.
Demi struggled with drug and alcohol abuse in the past, but after going to rehab and living in a sober-living home she was able to get clean for six years. Unfortunately, the musician revealed that she relapsed in her new song, “Sober,” in which she apologizes for using again and promises to get help.
The last lines of the tune go, “I’m sorry that I’m here again / I promise I’ll get help / It wasn’t my intention / I’m sorry to myself.”
The LAPD tells E! News that it responded to a call of an ambulance overdose around 11:40 a.m. local time. The identity of the patient, however, can not be confirmed.
D.Lo is currently on tour and was set to perform in Atlantic City, New Jersey, this Thursday. But while she’s been performing “Sober” on the road, she has apparently been “struggling” lately, according to TMZ.
At this point, all we can do is pray and wish Demi a full recovery, which is exactly what fans, friends and fellow celebrities are doing right now. Stars like Ariana Grande, Lily Allen, Brad Paisley and more posted on social media to send their love and support.
