Despite Battle with Eating Disorder, Demi Lovato Gets Attacked For Being “Fat”

By  |

Demi Lovato is more happy, healthy and ~confident~ than she ever has been, but it took her quite some time to get to this point. The 23-year-old singer has been incredibly open about her past struggles, including her battle with drugs, alcohol and an eating disorder.

“I started compulsively overeating at a very young age,” she wrote on Seventeen.com back in 2011. “And then I almost stopped eating altogether at the age of 12.”

The “Body Say” crooner says her bipolar disorder played a huge role in accelerating the food issues, but it was also kids at school who bullied her and called her “fat” that played a big part.

While DL now knows that her “body is so sacred” and she “can overcome and get through anything,” the fact that people still harass her online about her weight is absolutely disgusting. For example…

Even though Demi now knows ways to cope with the hate, the fact of the matter is — she shouldn’t have to. Why is it okay for strangers to hide behind a computer screen and make women feel bad about their bodies? It’s not okay and it needs to stop.
