Darren Criss & Kristen Wiig’s Flick Gets New Title and Release Date
Get ready for Darren Criss on the big screen. The Glee star announced on his Facebook page that his indie film with Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig not only changed its name, but it got a release date as well. The formerly known Imogene will now be known as Girl Most Likely, and is hitting theaters on July 19, 2013.
So, what’s this flick all about? According to IMDB, “A playwright [Kristen] stages a suicide in an attempt to win back her ex, only to wind up in the custody of her gambling-addict mother.” It also stars Annette Bening and Matt Dillon. Darren is rumored to play a younger love interest of Kristen’s character.
This is exciting news, as this is Kristen’s first big screen project since she left Saturday Night Live earlier this year, and her first movie since the massively successful Bridesmaids (which she wrote the screenplay for). Also, aside from Glee: The 3D Movie, where he played his Glee character Blaine, this is Darren’s first big role on the silver screen.
Darren isn’t the only Glee cutie making the leap to movies — it was announced on Wednesday that Jonathan Groff (who played baddie Jesse St. James) would be voicing a character in Disney’s upcoming animated film, Frozen. Also, Lea Michele is voicing Dorothy in yet another animated film titled, Dorothy of Oz, which based around (you guessed it) The Wizard of Oz. Frozen will hit theaters on November 27, 2013, while Dorothy of Oz should hit the big screen some time in 2013.
Looks like those Glee kids are managaing to stay busy, busy, busy. Will you see Darren’s new movie? Sound off in the comments.
