The Weird Reason Why Daniella Monet & Her Boyfriend Get Seriously Competitive
Daniella Monet is crazy cool and super talented — and we’re not just talking about her acting skills! The former Victorious star is also an amazing chef! We previously chatted with the 26-year-old actress about her new hosting gig on Paradise Run, but it turns out that’s definitely not the only new venture she’s been focusing on.
In between her acting commitments, the Nickelodeon queen has taken up a new hobby that combines her love for connecting with people with her passion for food. Did you figure it out yet? Daniella has an incredible blog, DaniellaMonet.com! Not only does the brunette beauty discuss her fave vegan food recipes (helllllloooo, mac & cheese!) but she also gives beauty tips, details her many travel adventures and more! Check out what Daniella says is her guiltiest food pleasure and more from our interview below:
Your blog is fabulous! What inspired you to start it?
Daniella: “Um, food! I just felt like I wanted so badly to share more about my lifestyle. I knew that people got a feel for it through Instagram or Twitter, but just to have a blog for me is something I almost want to have to look back on. Have all my recipes organized and just random stuff. I’m excited people are into it.”
You have a vegan-cooking channel on Youtube, which is super cool. What’s the best dish for people who are vegans?
D: “Oh my gosh. There’s mac and cheese and there’s pizza. Pretty much everything you can eat, I can make vegan and that’s sort of my thing. I don’t ever want to ever feel like I’m not getting what I want, so I try to figure out a way to eat everything.”
What’s your guiltiest pleasure when it comes to food?
D: “I love my sweets. I’m a big shake and smoothie person. I start the day off with one and I sometimes end the day off with one. I feel like it’s healthy, but I’m like, ‘put more chocolate, put more peanut butter.’ It’s all good.”
Let’s switch subjects to fashion, because that’s also a main aspect of your site. What are some staples in your wardrobe?
D: “My staple is literally a sweatshirt, maybe a backwards hat or a beanie and boyfriend jeans and converse. Very casual. If it’s not comfortable, I’m not feeling myself.”
What’s one beauty project you can’t live without?
D: “If there is one thing I couldn’t live without it would be Aloe Vera. It is so weird, I know, but I don’t feel like my skin is prepared for the world unless I have aloe on it. I wake up and I put aloe on it and I will reapply throughout the day and I’ll go to bed with aloe and vitamin E oil. That’s what I mix together, and it makes a lotion. That’s what I use for moisturizer all over my body. You can get really cheap stuff from Trader Joes and it’s the best, I swear, one and all kind of thing.”
You’re also super into fitness and being healthy. What’s your go-to exercise when you’re short on time?
D: “Run. I started running the last two to three years. To me it’s one of the best things that ever happened to me. I was a kid that hated running growing up. I avoided it at all costs. I was like, ‘no I have asthma I can’t run.’ Now I really enjoy it and it’s therapeutic for me. You can run for literally 10 minutes and feel good.”
What would you tell your fans about health and fitness goals?
D: “I just want to inspire by living by example. I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ve had so many love-hate relationships with healthy lifestyle. I think that it’s so easy to do whatever you want, one hundred percent, been there and I do it all the time. But, I think the constant thing that keeps me healthy is just knowing that, for instance, if I run I can eat whatever I want. I’m that person. I just need to workout and get it over with and then I can do whatever I want and feel good about it. So, that’s sort of what I think. It’s a trade off and about keeping a balance. I definitely don’t deprive myself. I’m a big, big eater. I try to compete with even my own boyfriend. I’m like listen, ‘you think you can eat more than me, it’s not going to happen.’ He always makes fun of me.”
