9 Dancing with the Stars Pros Who Dated Their Partner IRL
If you were disappointed with the latest Bachelor announcement — Arie Luyendyk Jr., who?? — maybe it’s time you switched shows and tuned in to the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Before you immediately brush off our suggestion, let us tell you that there’s a LOT more than just dancing that happens on the set of the ABC reality series.
Take dancers Emma Slater and Sasha Farber, for instance. When the two pros took to the stage back in October 2016 to perform a routine to Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are,” it was business as usual…until the 33-year-old pulled out a ring, that is. The celebs had been dating for five years at that point — and were friends for even longer than that — so their engagement wasn’t that shocking. When he got down on one knee and presented the 28-year-old with a pink sapphire ring, however, NO ONE had dry eyes.
Not all DWTS love stories end as beautifully as that one, though, but that doesn’t mean sparks aren’t flying at all times. Time and time again, we’ve seen the reality TV show’s professional dancers fall head-over-heels for their celeb partners. Some duos are in it for the long haul, while others fizzle out with the show. And while it’s hard to keep track of who’s been with who, it’s clear that there’s something in the water over at Dancing; the sexual tension is real on that small-screen hit, and, more often than not, it’s real dramatic, too.
Since Emma and Sasha’s engagement happened almost a year ago, we’ve been twiddling our thumbs for a new DWTS couple to sashay its way into our hearts. Season 25 is just around the corner, so we’ve got our fingers crossed, and our DVRs set on September 18, that it’ll happen soon.
Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks made history during season 8 as the first pair to enter the show already dating. Whether you think that gave them an unfair advantage or not, they were cut in the eighth week — and their relationship didn't last much longer than that.
The celebs announced their breakup in 2009, blaming their busy schedules. After being without her country-crooner bae for five months, the blonde moved on and started dating Ryan Seacrest.
