YouTubers Charged with Child Neglect 3 Months After Abuse Allegations

Heather and Mike Martin, the parents who started the now-infamous DaddyOFive YouTube channel, have been charged with child neglect about three months after they lost custody of two of their children, 12-year-old Emma and 9-year-old Cody. The couple first got in legal trouble after viewers expressed concern about their over-the-top ~pranks~, which would often cause the kids mental and sometimes physical harm.

Court documents were obtained by journalist Nick Monroe that stated each adult was charged with two counts of “neglect of a minor” on July 27. Apparently, the patriarch’s plea hearing is set for November 9.

The official reports also state that the criminal offenses occurred between November 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017, just a few days before Rose Hall, Emma and Cody’s birth mother, was given “emergency custody.”

Heather posted a message to the family’s “fans” on Twitter yesterday, which basically said everyone is doing okay as the legal battle progresses and to take “one-sided stories” with a grain of salt.

“Please don’t worry TeamO5,” she wrote. “Mike, the Boys [not including the two children who were placed in emergency custody earlier this year] and I are all home and OK. One thing I have learned about this crazy internet work is people are always looking for a one-sided story to tell. Especially when it is not the appropriate time for the other side to discuss it. When that time comes we will share our story. Until then, thank you so much for the continued love and support. It really does mean the world to us. Remember to fight hate with love AND STAY AWESOME.”

Well, that’s one way to handle being accused of child neglect…
