‘Glee’ Star Cory Monteith Checks Himself Into Rehab
Fans of Glee are joining together on Twitter and Tumblr to wish Cory Monteith well as the former New Directions captain is seeking help in real life for substance abuse.
PEOPLE confirms that the 30-year-old actor “has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction.” His rep says, “He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
This isn’t a first for the star. He openly admitted in 2011 that he also entered a treatment facility when he was 19 for similar struggles: “I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too. But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it.”
Girlfriend Lea Michele adds, “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision.” Plus a little more love was left on Twitter:
Feeling so grateful today <3

UPDATE: According to Deadline, Glee “has two more episodes from its current fourth season left to shoot. Filming on them will proceed as scheduled” sans Monteith.
