Comic-Con 2013: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Cast Talks Season 5 Spoilers
Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries ended with a bang. For starters, Elena finally made the ultimate decision (well, for now) between Stefan and Damon — congrats, Delena shippers! — Bonnie's dead, Katherine's cured, and Stefan's now stuck in a drowning box while his doppelganger, Silas(!), lives. And at Comic-Con 2013, the cast spilled the dirty details of what's to come for the hit show…
Fan favorites Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, Candice Accola and even exes Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder were all in attendance for the revealing panel. When speaking of Elena and Damon's relationship, Ian said he believes that no one gets a 'happily ever after' ending in Mystic Falls. However, Executive Producer Julie Plec was a little more positive, saying that there's less TV drama when people are happy, but it has worked on other shows (like Meredith and Derek on Grey's Anatomy), so she said they'll be "trying to keep [Elena and Damon] happy for a while in the midst of all the bad things that are trying to tear them apart." Ian added, "It's the honeymoon phase… The interaction between him and Elena is really cute."
As for Nina's alter ego — not Elena, but Katherine — she explained what life's going to be like now that she's lost her vampiric immortality: "She's going to be lost and weak and insecure… It's going to be tough. It's going to take a lot of getting used to." But Ian's a fan of the transformation: "I love seeing her humbled and ratty. It's awesome."
