17 Clever Ways People Got the Same Tattoo as the 13 Reasons Why Cast

By  |

You can say that we talk about 13 Reasons Why a lot. As we speak, our homepage is full of content about merchandise inspired by the show, relatable memes and celebrity criticism of the Netflix series. It’s truly a must-watch.

So you can bet that when a few members of the cast, Alisha Boe, Tommy Dorfman and Brandon Flynn (not pictured), as well as executive producer Selena Gomez, got matching semicolon tattoos in dedication to 13 Reasons Why, we were all over it:

For those of you wondering, “Why semicolons?” there’s a perfect explanation. “The ; symbol stands for an end of one thought and a beginning of another,” Tommy, who plays Ryan Shaver on the program, captioned his Instagram. “Instead of a period, authors use the semicolon to continue a sentence. For us, it means a beginning of another chapter in life, in lieu of ending your life.”

“I struggled with addiction and depression issues through high school and early college,” he continued. “I reached out and asked for help. At the time, I thought my life was over, I thought I’d never live past the age of 21. Today I’m grateful to be alive, in this new chapter of life in recovery, standing with my colleagues and friends, making art that helps other people.”

“RIP Amy Bleu[e]l, who started the semicolon movement,” he ended his message.

“Project [S]emicolon is a movement dedicated to presenting hope for those suffering from depression, thoughts of suicide, addiction, and self-injury,” Alisha, who plays Jessica Davis on the series, wrote on her own social media page.

Ever since the organization was founded in 2013, ten years after the death of Amy Bleuel’s father by suicide, many inked themselves with the same mark as Selena and the rest of the gang: a semicolon — and we want to show off some of that artwork. Honestly, look how clever these are:
