Public Outraged Teen Choice Didn’t Honor Christina Grimmie, Even Though She Won

The Teen Choice Awards are basically like our version of the Oscars. (Like, our name, Teen, is baked right into it.) So you can bet that we paid attention to every detail from beginning to end. And, just like us, viewers noticed something — or, rather, someone — noticeably absent from the mentions on the show: Christina Grimmie.

The late “With Love” singer/YouTube sensation, who was shot and killed on June 10, posthumously snagged the top prize for Choice Web Star: Music, much to the joy of her fans. BUT, even though the alum from The Voice, won one of the awards, and there was even a segment dedicated to stopping gun violence, Christina Grimmie was not honored even once throughout the night. Needless to say, the public was outraged:

Though, there was one person who was satisfied with the omission. Popular YouTuber Shane Dawson, who has been quite vocal about his disdain for the TCAs, was actually pleased that the show did not make mention of CG:

It’s possible that Christina’s own family didn’t wish for a special remark, or that the show couldn’t get anyone to attend in her honor. Either way, the public wants an explanation.
Sadly, Christina Grimmie’s not the only YouTuber who was murdered. This needs to stop!
