Christina Grimmie’s Family Releases New Song ~2 Years After Her Death

By  |

We can’t believe that it has been almost two years since Christina Grimmie was killed by a gunman after her concert. The news was truly heartbreaking and was the inspiration for tons of emotional songs written by her friends.

We have been missing Christina’s voice and positivity more than usual lately, which is why we are so happy that her family just released one of her previously recorded songs posthumously just in time for Mother’s Day. Christina wrote the song “Little Girl” when she was only 12 years old during the time her mom, Tina Grimmie, was undergoing breast cancer treatment.

Tina opened up to PEOPLE saying, “I am proud to share this extremely personal song with other mothers and daughters as well as Christina’s fans. It is very special to me and carries a part of not only Christina but our unique bond. I miss her daily and I take comfort in knowing that this song might help other mothers and daughters through their fearful or tough times.”

The best part about this song is the fact that a portion of the proceeds from the song will go to the Christina Grimmie Foundation, which helps families affected by the tragedy of gun violence or the diagnosis of breast cancer.

The song is a beautiful tribute to Christina’s memory and we will be listening to it on repeat for the rest of the day.

[Verse 1]
Little girl, don’t you cry
Everything will be alright
Little girl, open your eyes
The sun will shine after tonight
Little girl, I got you
In my arms there’s nothing new
Come out of your shell
Listen to me tell you

[Chorus]
Little girl
I’m here to say
Don’t run away
Little girl
I know you’re scared
The things you bear
So let me
Tell you you’re okay
That you’re in my arms to stay
Little girl

[Verse 2]
Little girl, wipe your tears
Darkness ran, don’t have to fear
Little girl, clear your mind
And think of my love this time
Did you save the longer days
But night has fallen, lost your way
Little girl, the morning’s gone
The sky is lit with dawn

[Chorus]
Little girl
I’m here to stay
Don’t run away
Little girl
I know you’re scared
The things you bear
So let me
Tell you you’re okay
That you’re in my arms to stay

[Bridge]
The walls I’ve built protect me from fully soar
I hope for the best you tell me I’m strong

[Chorus]
Little girl
I’m here to stay
Don’t run away
Little girl
I know you’re scared
The things you bear
So let me
Tell you you’re okay
And you’re in my arms to stay

Yes, you are
Oh, yeah
