Chord Overstreet Picked Up as a Series Regular for Season 4 of ‘Glee’
Though the entire cast of Glee is set to return for season 4 in some capacity, one member of New Directions just secured his full-time status in a majority of episodes: Chord Overstreet. (Considering the lack of occupied seats in the McKinley High choir room, this was probably FOX’s best move.) The Hollywood Reporter says that the guy also referred to as Trouty Mouth “officially closed his deal to portray Sam Evans” for the new school year.
After supposedly quitting the FOX hit before its third season to “focus on his fledgling music career,” he quickly came back mid-season to reprise his role as Sam Evans who had to the goal to win back senior Mercedes Jones. However, now that she graduated, no one knows what storyline will be next for the tousled-hair blond.
As for another ND member, Vanessa Lengies‘s character, Sugar Motta, is also set to return. Although she hasn’t reached ‘series regular’ status, she’s still set to make an appearance in the September 13th premiere episode (at least). FOX President Kevin Reilly says, “We have a core [group consisting] of some of the returning characters and some of the new ones that we’ll be servicing every week, and then limited deals with some of the other actors, who will be joining here and there through the season.” We’re guessing Sugar will be a part of said core group?
However, it’s not all good news for the Glee juniors. During Comic-Con 2012, it was announced that The Glee Project season 1 winner Damian McGinty will not be returning to the show come fall. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be a future with him. Producer Brad Falchuk explains, “Damian is not back this year. The second half of the season, who knows. Right now, he won’t be in the first half of the season.” So stay tuned…
