The Best (And Worst) Ways to Wear the Ombre Hair Trend
We were head over heels for Rihanna‘s dress at the Grammys, but uh, we didn’t feel the same way about her hair. Celebs have been rocking the ombre look—grown-out roots and lighter ends—for quite some time now and there’s a certain way to wear it. But RiRi got her hair color all wrong. (But in other news, that underneath smoky eye is amaze!)
The point to the ombre look is that your dye job looks like you meant to grow it out, but you don’t actually wait for your roots to grow out like Rihanna seems to be doing here. That just doesn’t look glam! Instead, you dye it to look all cool and messy.
Rachel Bilson is another big ombre hair trend-setter. These days, she’s still rocking it, but in a tamer way that blends in more with her brunette roots. There’s just something about the way lighter ends look with curls that really pull it all together in the ABSOLUTE best way.
Khloe Kardashian is one of the more adventurous Kardash sisters. (Then again, you don’t have to look far for some beauty inspiration from those girls.) Her ombre hair brings even more attention to her beachy waves take on the signature Kardashian locks.
Shenae Grimes shows that the lighter shade of ombre doesn’t have to be blond. This look is edgy by nature, but her super dark locks make it even fiercer with the hint of rocker attitude that Shenae loves.
Lauren Conrad dyed her hair tips rainbow colors for her blog The Beauty Department once! So she’s of course also tried the ombre look. It’s a light version with a slightly blonder bottom half, which is easier for the faint of heart (or those with less adventurous parents).
