8 Celebrities Who HARDLY Served Time in Jail for Their Crimes
We’re not sure if you’ve noticed, but celebrities are no strangers to breaking the law. Whether it’s the illegal possession of drugs, or involvement in a nasty brawl, stars often find themselves in a ton of legal trouble. And while it’s unclear exactly why they wouldn’t think twice about tarnishing their names by committing ANY crime, some do it anyway, leading many people to believe that celebs simply do not care about the law because they feel that they’re above it.
Of course, everyone is supposed to be equal in the eyes of the law, but celebrities seem to follow an entirely different set of rules. In fact, it almost seems that as soon as a famous person checks into prison, they’re let out. So, are we crazy, or do these people seem to get away with things A LOT easier because of their celeb status? And if so, doesn’t this have to change?
Well, with the recent news that former Glee actor Mark Salling pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography but won’t be spending THAT much time behind bars, now’s a better time than any to start seriously discussing the ways the law treats celebrities… especially ones that commit heinous crimes like this.
To recap, when cops were tipped off by a female friend of the actor back in 2015, they searched his house only to find 50,000 images of child pornography, and even more on a flash drive. Gross! And now, as a result of his actions, Mark will have to serve four to seven years in prison and also register as a sex offender. This will restrict him from having contact with minors without an adult present, and will also require him to stay far away from certain public spaces.
While Mark COMPLETELY deserves to be punished for his absolutely repulsive crimes, doesn’t four to seven years in prison seem kind of… short? Considering the offense, we think he should serve MUCH more jail time, but being that he’s a celebrity, who’s to say he won’t mysteriously be released from prison before that 4-year mark? If you don’t think it’s possible, check out this list of celebrities who HARDLY served time for their crimes. SO ridiculous!
Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of arrests in the past decade or so, and yet, despite the length of her mostly alcohol and drug-related sentences, she hardly served any time behind bars
In 2010, the Mean Girls actress was given 90 days in prison for violating her probation by not attending weekly alcohol education courses. Unsurprisingly, she was released after a measly two weeks. This pattern only continued, with LiLo getting let off of another 120-day sentence after just over a month's time because of overcrowding.
