Jeffrey Wright Cast as Beetee in ‘The Hunger Games’ Sequel, ‘Catching Fire’
The day has come where we can finally say that all of the big guns have been cast in Catching Fire. As of today, the role of Beetee, District 3’s male victor forced to compete in the Hunger Games once again, belongs to actor Jeffrey Wright.
Jeffrey’s character is described as “having ashen skin and black hair… [H]e is also said to have ill-fitting glasses.” So, not too much of a stretch (unlike Jena Malone whose character’s physical description is far from hers). If you’re not sure how you know Jeff, you might recognize him from starring opposite Beyonce in Cadillac Records or beside Ryan Gosling in Ides of March. If not, then you’ll definitely know him come November 22, 2013 (CF‘s release date).
This marks the near end of casting for the sequel to The Hunger Games, as his district companion’s part has already been given to Amanda Plummer (Wiress) and most recently, the part of District 4 male victor, and possibly the most popular new character, granted to SWATH actor Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair). Other notables include Stephanie Leigh Schlund (Cashmere), Maria Howell (Seeder), E. Roger Mitchell (Chaff), and Alan Ritchson (Gloss). The only named remainders are District 8’s Woof and Cecelia, though neither play as large of parts as the aforementioned roles.
Though parts are still being confirmed, rest assured, Catching Fire has already begun filming, as the main characters, including Jennifer Lawrence, have been spotted at the movie’s setting in Atlanta, Georgia as recently as last week.
