Carly Rae Jepsen Threw Charity Event For Fans…And Only 20 People Showed Up

By  |

It looks like Carly Rae Jepsen's fan base is either depleting at a rapid pace…or they're all just really busy. The "Call Me Maybe" was set to make an appearance at a charity event at David's Tea in Toronto on Monday, which you would think would lead to fans showing up in droves, right? Wrong. Only 20 people showed up to meet the singer. Which has to sting a little — it was even in her home country of Canada!
Apparently, the deal was that David's Tea would "donate one cup of tea to select charities, with a goal of donating over 30,000 cups of tea to local hunger relief shelters," (via The Daily Mail). It looks like they fell a bit short. Maybe this isn't so much a reflection of her fan base, but maybe poor planning? That or everyone couldn't make it!

The good news, however, is the fans that did come were delighted to meet her. CRJ posed for photos and interacted with fans. We hope this doesn't reflect what's to come in her future, as she's set to take the Broadway stage as Cinderella beginning in February.

What do you think of this fan event? Is her star fading away? Or do you think there were other factors involved as to why not many people showed up? Sound off in the comments section!
