Cardi B’s Former Manager Sues Her for — Wait for It — $10 Million!!
Cardi B skyrocketed to fame with the release of her hit song, “Bodak Yellow,” last summer, but the 25-year-old put in a lot of hard work to get to the level of success she’s at today. The rapper’s former manager, Klenord “Shaft” Raphael, says he was a major factor in making CB into the mega-star she is now and is suing her for $10 million for basically screwing him over on her way to the top.
Shaft says he started working with Cardi in 2015 and connected her with the writers, producers, etc., who are responsible for creating “Bodak Yellow.”
His rep tells TMZ, “Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image. While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint. Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims.”
According to Shaft, the musician’s publicist and makeup artist “[poisoned] her against him,” which caused her to tell fiancé Offset that he robbed her.
A text sent in December from the 26-year-old rapper allegedly read, “[U] better stop play acting like u don’t know u taking her sh*t from her u a snake. U can’t hide from me N***a and u not bout to play my WIFE.”
Cardi, however, allegedly fired Shaft because he was finessing (no pun intended) business deals to make it appear she was making less month than she actually was and pocking the rest.
She has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit.
