Camila Cabello’s “Havana” Video Sends Powerful Message to DACA Dreamers

The “Havana” music video just hit the web this morning, and Camila Cabello was not afraid to get political. In fact, at the very end of the video, the 20-year-old singer dedicated a very powerful message to the Dreamers who benefit from DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

The musical visual, which pays homage to the “Havana” crooner’s Cuban roots, includes some of the most beautiful customs and traditions that Cuban immigrants have contributed to American society. In the video, which is over six minutes long, Camila is seen watching telenovelas, salsa dancing in the streets and spending quality time with her family.

This music video for “Havana” comes almost two months after the news surfaced that President Donald Trump was trying to repeal DACA, a program permitting undocumented immigrants who moved to the U.S. as young kids the chance to study and work without the risk of deportation. Camila, along with many other celebs, has been outspoken about her support for DACA and her fear over what would happen to some of her friends and family if the program were to be repealed.

The brunette beauty, who is a Cuban immigrant herself, took to Twitter and Instagram on September 5th to bring awareness to this issue, which is so close to her heart for obvious reasons. “Trump’s plan to Deport DREAMERS is cruel and we WILL resist. Please stand up text RESIST to 50409 #IStandWithDreamers.”

Not only was Camila vocal about her support, she also appeared on The Today Show on September 25th to perform “Havana” live. In case you didn’t know, Camila dedicated her performance to the Dreamers back then, too! Nearing the end of that performance, Camila had her dancers appear in shirts that read, “I stand with Dreamers,” while she delivered a powerful message to the audience. “This is America, the America we love,” she said. “Where no matter your race, your color, your beliefs or where you came from, if you have a dream, you can make it possible.”
