Camila Cabello Breaks a Record with Her Debut Album Release

Camila Cabello just dropped her debut solo album, Camila, and it’s already receiving some pretty incredible accolades. The 20-year-old already beat out Selena Gomez as the female artist with the most streams on Spotify in one month, and now she has another record under her belt.

Shortly after midnight when it was released, Camila became the first debut album by a female artist to ever reach #1 on iTunes in 80 countries.

But Camilizers didn’t stop there! As the hours progressed, Camila went to #1 in more and more places, officially becoming the debut solo album with the most #1s on iTunes around the world of all time. Harry Styles previously held this record with his debut self-titled album. He peaked at #88, and Camila is currently at #96 and counting.

Part of the reason why the former Fifth Harmony girl’s first solo album is doing so well is that she vowed to be as honest as possible in her songs, and she definitely delivered. She said of her album, “I feel like the best way to come up with something new and different is just to be the you-est you possible. If you pull from all the different little parts of yourself, nobody can replicate that.”

Camila worked very hard to make this album the best it can be, but she still doesn’t see what she does as work. She explained, “For me, I just love this. I love what I do and I often tell myself this thing I once saw on Oprah. It was, ‘Don’t do something for the outcome, do it for the work and because you want to have something great in your portfolio, for you.’ I love proving that I can do things for myself, rather than for someone else.”

Camila recently admitted she felt “hurt” by the shade 5H threw during the group’s VMAs performance, but we highly doubt she’s looking back at everything that happened to her in the past year with anything but positivity.
