BTS Dethrones Taylor Swift for #1 Music Video Debut on YouTube

Taylor Swift holds a seemingly endless amount of records. Her album, Fearless, is the most-awarded country album of all time, she has the most top ten debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 in history and she’s the only artist to have three albums sell more than one million copies in their first week (just to name a few.) The singer also held the record for the most YouTube views on a music video within 24 hours — that is, until BTS dethroned her!

“Look What You Made Me Do” racked up an astonishing 43.2 million views within a day of it being posted, and one year later, the view count currently sits at a whopping 955,393,843. But it wasn’t enough to hold off the BTS stans!

On Friday, the K-Pop boy band dropped the music video for the song “Idol.” The group’s worldwide fanbase went nuts, and the video quickly gained more than 45 million views within one day! Not only did the guys kick T.Swift out of the #1 spot, but they also beat their own record as well. Their video for “Fake Love” gained 35.9 million views within 24 hours back in May, which made it the biggest music video premiere of 2018 — until now!

As always, the boys’ dance skills were on point. But it was J-Hope, in particular, that was really feelin’ the moves. In a clip tweeted from the official BTS account, the rapper recreated a dance sequence from the video and challenged fans to film their own versions with the hashtag #IDOLCHALLENGE:

And, of course, the BTS stans came through. Check out their amazing moves!

True idols, TBH.
