Why the Jenner Name is Getting Dragged on the Web Because of Black Lives Matter

It’s not unusual for the Jenner family to be problematic. Kendall & Kylie have more than enough controversial moments between ’em to last a lifetime. (Kylie’s dreadlocks, Kendall’s cornrows… You know the deal.) But, shockingly, the latest Jenner to receive a great deal of backlash is usually one of the least problematic members of the clan: Brody Jenner.

Though he’s not as out of the spotlight as Caitlyn Jenner‘s other spawn, Brandon, Casey & Burt, he’s nowhere near as headline-making as his Kardashian step-siblings or his younger sisters. Nevertheless, one of his recent Instagram posts caused an onslaught of negative reactions across social media, and for good reason.

Last week, the 33-year-old recently engaged hottie reposted one of his friends’ notes on Keith Lamont Scott, a black man who was shot and killed by a police officer in Charlotte, North Carolina, last month. “I normally don’t speak about this type of stuff, but this is just ridiculous,” said The Hills alum’s friend, Taylor Mosher. “I can’t even watch the news anymore without getting pissed off. This has nothing to do with race. White, black, brown, any color…if you have an officer of the law telling you to exit your vehicle (or do anything for that matter)…you comply. And not only do you comply, but you do so willingly and follow directions completely. And why in the world would you exit that vehicle with a weapon in hand (allegedly?!) That makes no sense! And if, let’s just say, you DON’T have a gun, why would you not put your hands up in the air and state ‘I do not have a gun’ so that the officers can clearly see that you don’t??”

He then commented, “AMEN T!!”

All of it has since been deleted, but not before he felt the wrath of the Internet for his ignorance. Fortunately, he’s seen the error in his ways:

“After taking some time to reflect and learn a lot over the last few days, I want to address my careless and misguided posts last weekend,” he wrote underneath a recent Instagram picture. “Having done more research into the Black Lives Matter movement, including reading a very informative editorial [in Vanity Fair] by @lmanisviney, I realize that my comments weren’t thoughtful or substantiated. I spoke out of turn on a subject I wasn’t particularly educated on. It was never my intention to exacerbate an already contentious situation in our country. I am a firm supporter of the African American community and I am grateful that my mistake allowed me the opportunity to increase my own awareness of Black Lives Matter, and hope that going forward we can continue this conversation in a positive and peaceful way.”

It’s a start, right?

But enough about Brody — let’s talk about his baby sister’s past fashion choices:
